Ashwagandha – The Ancient Herb for the Modern Mind

I love finding clinical trials that support why I choose the ingredients that we use in HerbWorks formulas. I’ve always loved KSM-66 ashwagandha and that is why we use it in our brain formula TianChi. Now a new clinical trial published in the Journal of Dietary Supplements give me another reason for loving it.

A double-blind randomized, placebo controlled trial has shown KSM-66 significantly improved immediate memory and cognitive functioning. Scientists hypothesized it works as a acetyl-choline-esterase inhibitor, meaning it helps the brain retain more acetylcholine. This allows the choline and other acetylcholine precursors in TianChi to work even better at helping the brain process information.

  1. Hi Ricki,

For anyone to really help you requires much more information than you offered in this comment. What type of kidney disease do you have? What is the source of the problem? I’m sure the symptom of too much potassium relates to the original condition. Your best bet would be to work on that and your potassium levels may normalize.

Weak kidneys is something a good practitioner of Chinese herbology could help you with. Ashwagandha could be very useful combined with other tonics for your kidneys. One of my stress formulas, Inner Peace, is very good for strengthening kidney function.

    Blessings,
    Roger

  2. Hi Roger,
Any reason why you did not use KSM-66 instead of Sensoril, in your Inner Peace formulation? Was curious to see if you feel there is a real difference between the two ingredients, in terms of either quality and or specific function?
    Thanks, Andy

    1. Hi Andy,

We made the switch to KSM-66 a while back but still had inventory with Sensoril. In the near future all of our products using ashwagandha will feature KSM-66.
I like the whole herb root extract of KSM-66 and feel it has a more rounded whole body experience to it. Both are high quality but thats my preference.

      Blessings,
      Roger
